Letters to the Editor

After reading The Post article, “Goering sued over estate handling,” I decided to write. Robert Goering’s ineptitude as reported in your article isn’t surprising since he has similarly mismanaged Hamilton County taxpayers’ money and forced individual home owners to overpay their property taxes for years.

His refusal to implement a program (the Bob Drake Tax Break) by which taxpayers can lower the amount paid in property taxes – without costing the county any revenue – is hard to understand. Further, his failure to collect delinquent property taxes (now over $55 million) takes money from schools and other agencies that rely on those funds. It certainly forces those taxpayers who pay in full and on time to carry the load for those who do not.

There are many important issues pertaining to the treasurer’s office, not the least of which is that taxpayers deserve someone who will work full time in that position.

Taxpayers have suffered from Mr. Goering’s lack of understanding regarding how to make improvements in a similar manner to how the estate of his client suffered.
